Admission Process & Timeline

Your child must be 2 years and 10 months old and fully toilet-trained to enroll at MCH. Most children begin the program on the first official day of school, however, a few students may be admitted later in the year.

There are three basic steps for applying to our school:

Step 1 - Take a tour

Group tours are available on select Thursday mornings from 9:00 am to 10:00 am starting in early October and continuing through January. Tours provide an opportunity to observe our classrooms, talk with teachers, and meet with the Director and current MCH parents. Tours are a required step in the admissions process if applying for entry in the regular school year--adults only, please.

Step 2 - Apply

Applications are completed online. We strongly encourage you to participate in a tour before applying to ensure that our school is the right fit for you. We do not screen children, and there is no formal interview process. Application responses are the most important data points that guide us in selecting families for our school community. Please complete our application by clicking the button below.

Please use the link below to apply for the 2025-26 school year. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2025.

The admissions application is very important to be considered for placement at MCH. While your answers don’t need to be lengthy, we aim to learn more about your family’s wishes, needs, and background from your responses. Please share as much as you can. We look forward to getting to know your family!

Step 3 - Acceptance

If applying in the regular admissions calendar, we notified you of admissions decisions on March 4, 2025. If applying outside of the regular admissions calendar, we will notify you within one week of submission. To ensure that you can make the best choice for your family, MCH partners with other preschools in San Francisco by announcing acceptances on the same date. Families are notified both via email and snail mail.

If offered a spot at MCH, you have one week to secure it by returning a signed enrollment agreement with a deposit of $1,500. If we are not able to offer your family a place in early March, you may choose to remain in our wait pool. Openings may occur and if this happens, we immediately reach out to families in our wait pool. We ask parents to notify us if they choose not to remain active in the pool.
